C. Prokaryotes
Prokaryotes are unicellular organisms that lack nucleus and other organelles such as mitochondria due to the absence of internal membranes. Furthermore, the cell membrane in prokaryotes is made up of phospholipids which constitute the cells primary osmotic barriers. However, many prokaryotes contain circular DNA molecules commonly refer to as plasmids.
