Paper chromatography is a method used in organic and analytical chemistry which separates pigments based on polarity differences. The mobile phase runs through the stationary phase. As the solvent travels up the paper, the different components of the dyes travel at different rates and the components are separated into colored spots. Components of the dyes will separate according to how strongly they adsorb on the stationary phase or the paper.
