* over half of most inmates in jail are suffering from mental illnesses and are not aware of their actions, but instead of being but in an institution to help them, they are given life sentences and treated like criminals

* many of the mental health institutions are letting their patients live in poor conditions, and are set up as jail cells where it intimidates the patients.

* over 3/4 ths of homelessness population in an area is made up of people who suffer from a mental disorder and dont have the ability to maintain a stable home
