Because if you keep someone's suicide threat a secret and they actually end there life then it would partially be your fault for not alerting someone who can help,which will possibly lead to self hatred and other things related to guilt
The point is let someone know immediately unless it's a situation where the person is only going to do it if you tell in which you try to offer them help without letting people know [these scenarios get really complicated the further you go into them]
