I think that it would take a global revolution for this to finally occur. Women in many places, not just the US, are still being treated as inferior. A main reason for this is due to economic power. Often, men are the workers who bring home the money, and women can't leave abusive and bad relationships because they won't be economically stable. To fix this, we would need to implant a UBI system. Also, passing the ERA would ban all discrimination based on sex, so the pay gap would no longer exist.
