3.) A. There would be two poles in each half, you could break a magnet into millions of pieces, but they would always have one south and one north pole. The only way to change this would be to have a spherical magnet.
B. I believe a magnet is a magnet because the atoms are parallel and aligned, and if you drop it, the alignments break up and the magnetic force weakens.
4.) A. Either the domains of the weaker magnet are re-aligned (reversed) by the strong field of the other magnet so they both attract .. or a large enough number of unaligned domains in the weaker magnet become aligned by the stronger field that the attracting forces exceed the repelling forces.
B. Well, gravity is just the pulling down on objects to get to the earth's core. The earth's core is so far away and the junkyard crane magnet is right there, so it lifts the car

The opposite poles of two magnets attract. Therefore, when the red end of a magnet or compass is pointing north, it is because it is being attracted in that direction by the south end of another magnet (often colored blue) – this is the imaginary magnet inside the Earth.
