Eliza, Dominic, and I planned to meet at the movie theater at 7 p.m. I arrived 15 minutes early, bought my ticket, and found a seat. Eliza and Dominic arrived during the previews. A few hours later, the three of us were sitting at the pizza joint, discussing how we should have seen a different movie.

i would say "a few hours later" does the best job of connecting the topics, especially in regards to location. without that phrase, they would be at the movie theater, then randomly at a pizza joint--it wouldn't make sense. "a few hours later" indicates that some time passed so it helps connect their activities at the movie theater to their activities at the pizza joint.
