He has abdicated government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging war against us. He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people. He is at the time transporting Armies of foreign Mercenaires to complete the works of death, desolation and tyranny already begun with circumstances of Cruelty and perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation. This passage form the Declaration of independence supports which of the following: thesis, theme, purpose or pathos?

Part of it definitely supports pathos when it says "burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people" because this is an appeal to the readers emotions.

However, I also think it exemplifies the author's purpose because the passage makes it clear that the author intends to criticize an unfit ruler.
