Using no more than 10 propositions, create a Concept Map to locate and name the major body cavities and their subdivisions and associated membranes, and list the major organs contained within them.

Answer :

The human body can be divided into two main cavities: dorsal body cavity and ventral body cavity.
Within the dorsal body cavity we can find the cranial cavity and the vertebral cavity. The ventral body cavity can be divided into the thoracic cavity and the abdominopelvic cavity, which can also be divided into two, the abdominal cavity and the pelvic cavity.
The dorsal cavity is limited by several bone structures and membranes being the most intimate the pia mater followed by the arachnoid, and then dura mater. The main organs that it contains are the brain and the spinal cord.
The ventral cavity is limited on the most external view by muscle structures and bone structures. Dividing the thoracic cavity from the abdominopelvic cavity is the diaphragm.
The thoracic cavity can be divided into the pleural cavity (limited by the pleural membrane) and the mediastinum. The pleural cavity contains the lungs and the mediastinum several vessels and channels (breathing and digestive), and the heart, covered by the pericardium.
The abdominal cavity is segmented into many spaces by membranes and ligaments being the largest and most folded membrane the peritoneum. It contains important organs such as the stomach, the spleen, the intestines, the liver, the kidneys and the pancreas.
The pelvic cavity is continuous with the abdominal cavity and is divided only by an imaginary plan that intersects the arcuate lines of the coxal bone. In its floor is limited by the pelvic diaphragm. The pelvic cavity includes the bladder, genitals and other important vessel structures.

There are four body cavities in humans which are pelvic body cavity, dorsal body cavity, thoracic body cavity and abdominal cavity.

Further explanation

Coelom

It is a body cavity found in metazoans (creatures that create from a developing life with three tissue layers: ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm). Living beings that have a genuine coelom are called true coelomates. True coelomates are frequently assembled into two classifications: protostomes and deuterostomes. Organisms having coelom are called coelomate.

Pseudocoelomate

A living being with body hole that isn't gotten from the mesoderm, as in a genuine coelom, or body pit. A pseudocoelomate is otherwise called a blastocoelomate, as the body depression is gotten from the blastocoel, or hole inside the fetus.

Acoelomate

Such organism which lack coelom or true body cavity.

Body cavity

A body depression or cavity is any space or compartment, or potential space in the creature body. Depressions oblige organs and different structures; pits as potential spaces contain liquid. Serous membrane creates these cavities.

Number of body cavities in humans

There are four body cavities in humans like dorsal body cavity, pelvic body cavity, abdominal cavity and thoracic body cavity.

1. The dorsal body cavity

It covers spinal cord and brain.

2. The thoracic body cavity

It covers lungs and heart

3. The abdominal body cavity

It covers kidney and digestive organs

4. The pelvic cavity

It covers both bladder and reproductive organs.
