You need to approach this question with PEMDAS.

We have an exponent (3²), so you do that first and you get 9.

Then you do 4 × 5 which is 20 (because of multiplication)

Then you do 2 ÷ 6, which is [tex] \frac{1}{3} [/tex]. 

And then you have to do 9 × [tex] \frac{1}{3} [/tex], which is 3 (because multiplication again)

Finally, you do 20 - 3 which is 17, which is the answer (final step is subtraction).
