3. Combine like terms, then evaluate for x = 2 and y = 3. Remember to use the Order of Operations. Show your work for each problem.
(a) 6x+ 4(y – 1) – 2x + 8
(b) 3y + 5 – y + 4 + x
(c) 15 – 3x + 3y – 5 + 4y
(d) 2x + 5(2y +8)
x + y(y + 4)

Answer :

a) 6x + 4y - 4 - 2x + 8 = 4x + 4y + 4 = 4(2) + 4(3) + 4 = 8 + 12 + 4 = 24

b)2y + x + 9 = 2(3) + 2 + 9 = 6 + 2 + 9 = 17

c) 10 - 3x + 7y = 10 - 3(2) + 7(3) = 10 - 6 + 21 = 25

d) this one looks confusing.  is it divide or is there an extra line by accident, and missing a symbol?  please clarify and I will answer
