The absolute (or total) pressure at the bottom of a cylindrical container with a cross-sectional area of 47.0 cm2 and holding a fluid of density 560 kg/m3 is 115 kpa. (a) determine the depth of the fluid.

The pressure in fluids is given by,
Pressure = density × gravity × depth

So therefore,
115000 = 560 × 9.8 × depth

making the depth the subject of the formula,
Depth = 115,000 ÷ (560×9.8)
           = 115,000 ÷ 5,488
           = 20.9548 m
