The warm air after rising begins moving towards the poles as it cools and sinks as it gains density. However, this movement of air in these Hadley's convection cells of air masses circulations is NOT straight up to the poles. The air movement is deflected to the North West as air moves towards the North while air is deflected to the South West it moves towards the south pole. This is because the higher you get to the poles the higher the deflection by Coriolis effect due to earth rotation.
